Tonight’s (July 22) “Tavis Smiley Reports” primetime special, “New Orleans: Been in the Storm Too Long,” was produced in collaboration with director Jonathan Demme. If you missed it, you can probably catch it online here.
Larry adds: “Smiley lent Demme a week of his airtime in 2008 to air parts of Demme’s ongoing documentary, “Right to Return.” With so much attention rightly paid to the oil spill just now, it’s my hope that the still-relevant story of the flood’s aftermath is not forgotten — rather, that the two narratives are folded together to highlight the many core issues in common.”
