Luciano Rossetti gives a JJA Photographers Master Class, 8/20

Award-winning, often exhibited photographer Luciano Rossetti presents the third JJA Photographers Master Class on Saturday, August 20, at 1 pm ET. The event is free to JJA, members, and $10 to the general public. Register here.

Having started his career in the late 1970s, Rossetti says he covers “concerts and performances, and everything that comes with that,” including street photography, album covers and portraits. His image “Riccardo Pittau e Gli Amici di Matteo, Campanari di Locusantu, Isole che parlano festival, 2020, Luogosanto (SS), Sardinia, Italy” was voted Photo of the Year in the 2021 JJA Jazz Awards.

A world traveler whose work has been exhibited widely and featuring in books as well as periodicals, Rossetti covered the ECM label’s 50th anniversary at Lincoln Center and Vision festival in New York City, as well as serving as official photographer for festivals including Fano Jazz by the Sea, Bergamo Jazz Festival, deSidera Teatro, Teatro Erbamil, TAE Teatro, Ai Confini tra Sardegna e Jazz, Contaminazioni Contemporanee and Premio Europa Teatro. In 2004 Luciano was among the founders of Phocus Agency, and in 2007 he organized the first Meeting on Jazz Photography, on behalf of the Punta Giara Association. His article on photographing during the pandemic has been published at JJANews.

Rossetti’s JJA Photographers Master Class is the third of a monthly series of interactive presentations by photographers involved with jazz among other subjects, discussing their careers, techniques, and approaches to current professional issues. He will be interviewed by Hrayr Attarian, photographer and chair of the JJA’s Photo of the Year Award committee. Previous Master Classes have featured Adriana Mateo and Lauren Deutsch, each individually discussing their work; Marc PoKempner is scheduled for September 24.

Attendees will be enabled to ask questions. JJA members may register to attend free of charge. Non-members must pay $10 to register for the interactive Zoom call. Archival editions of the JJA Photographers Masters Classes will be posted at YouTube.
