Call for nominations in 2021 JJA Jazz Awards

The nominations ballot for the 2021 JJA Jazz Awards is now open! Professional voting members of the JJA will have received an email leading to the ballot (you must sign into your JJA account to get to it).

And photographers — even those not members — are encouraged to submit an image for the JJA’s 2021 Jazz Photo of the Year Award.

The deadline for submitting a photo is Sunday March 21, and the deadline for submitting nominations for Awards citing excellence in jazz music and jazz media is Sunday, March 28.

A slate of 2021 Jazz Heroes is being consolidated, and subcommittees considering Best Books and Best Album Art of the Year 2019 have met. Subcommittee nominations will join the nominees determined by the number of nominations they received in the Finalists Ballot due to be published in mid April.

The 2021 Jazz Photo of the Year award honors images created in calendar year 2020 (nothing shot before Jan 1st or after Dec 31st 2020 please). Send ONE best shot as ONE jpeg no bigger than 1000 pixels on the long dimension to Photos@JazzJournalists.org by SUNDAY MARCH 21. Please tell in your email: 1) WHO is in your photo 2) WHERE you took it 3) WHEN (the date, at least approximate) you took it.  Remember, the photo must have been taken between Jan 1 and Dec 31, 2020.
