The Jazz Journalists Association will hold its first Members Only Town Hall, a Zoom call offering audio-video interactivity, on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 2 pm Eastern time. Attendance requires registration: sign into your JJA account then click “Event Registration” in the left column.
Free and providing full audio-video interactivity, the meeting will have a brief reports on the state of the organization and its programs by JJA board members Bob Blumenthal, Susan Brink, Andy Gilbert, Janis Lane-Ewart, Rick Mitchell, Don Palmer and Neil Tesser, and president Howard Mandel. Discussion will follow, moderated by Willard Jenkins, JJA co-founder, Award winner and former vice-president. Members will be called on to speak and may post questions to the chat.
New members as of December 2, 2021, will be welcome to the meeting. Join the JJA here as a professional (voting, journalistically active) or student (enrolled in high school or college degree program, non-voting) member, or an associate or supporting (non-voting) member. The JJA is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization; dues are typically tax-deductible.
In prior years, JJA members’ meetings and in-person programs have been open to the public,
held in conjunction with conferences, festivals and conventions such as those of the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) and International Association of Jazz Educators. JJA meetups prior to covid-19 pandemic restrictions celebrated Jazz Heroes in widespread U.S. locales, or have been generally informal. This JJA Town Hall Zoom will be recorded but not posted for later, public access, as it is intended for members only.
