Jazz Radio in Transition #2: Tuning into the Future

In “Jazz Radio in Transition: Tuning into the Future” — live on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 8 pm Eastern time,  the second of the JJA’s “Talking Jazz” webinar series for 2014 – 2015 —  producer Katie Simon of NPR’s new “Jazz Night in America,”  music director AllPanelArturo Gomez of Denver’s KUVO, acting program director Katea Stitt of WPFW, and Jim Wilke, JJA award winner and longtime host of PRI’s Jazz After Hours, will explore current trends leading to future programming in one of the most essential media platforms for the promulgation of jazz.

The interactive Google Hangout free to all registrants and follow-up to November’s panel on jazz radio that launched a concentration on broadcasting will be a free-flowing 90-minute discussion (moderated by JJA president Howard Mandel), accepting questions and comments from attendees. Like all “Talking Jazz” webinars, upon completion “Jazz Radio in Transition” will be archived for free access at YouTube.com.

Sponsored by The Jazz Cruise as part of its Anita E. Berry Jazz Education Fund, “Talking Jazz” webinars are an aspect of the JJA’s ongoing efforts to investigate the currently evolving media landscape through the directly recounted experiences of jazz journalists and other specialists in the front lines. The next “Talking Jazz” webinar, on January 21, will bring together jazz educators from the JEN conference and jazz journalists who’ve taught as adjunct faculty for a conversation on the bonds and breaks between the two disciplines.
