2016 JJA Jazz Awards season is underway

The Jazz Journalists Association has begun the process of

Awards2014one400selecting winners of its 2016 Jazz Awards for achievements in music and journalism, as well as naming and celebrating 2016 Jazz Heroes honored for “aiding and abetting jazz” in 25 U.S. communities.

The Awards process involves two stages of voting. First, the JJA’s professional members are called upon to make up to three nominations in each of 40 categories of excellence in which they feel well-informed. All nominations are tabulated and those nominees accruing the most members’ mentions advance to become finalists, whose names appear on a second ballot, also voted upon by the JJA’s professional members.

The Awards nominating ballot — to be filled out only by professional members of the JJA — is posted at 2016 NOMINATIONS BALLOT PAGE. Members must be logged into their JJA accounts to access the ballot. If you can’t remember your password, click “Forgot password” and follow the instructions.
