Candidates for 2011 Jazz Photo of the Year on view

Thirty-one photographs which provide wonderful, beautiful, at times amusing and typically insider depictions of jazz in 2011 have been selected in the first round of the process that will lead to the declaration of the Jazz Journalist Association’s 2011 Jazz Photo of the Year. Professional Journalist members of the JJA are currently voting in the next stage of the awards process in this category. View the first round nominees here. . .

(If you are a JJA Professional Member be sure to cast your vote before April 17.) The Photo of the Year will be announced, along with awards winners in more than forty other categories of awards for jazz musicianship and jazz journalism, on June 11 at the 2011 JJA Jazz Awards gala at City Winery in New York City. The gala will be live videostreamed with simultaneous satellite parties in many other locales. Ticket information is coming soon.
