Announcing “Seeing Jazz: JJA Photographers Masterclasses” online, a series

“Seeing Jazz: JJA Photographers Master Classes,” a new monthly series, goes live at 1 pm ET on Saturday, June 25, as Award-winning Argentine-born/New York-based Adriana Mateo discusses her

work with Hrayr Attarian, chair of the JJA’s Photo of the Year committee, in an interactive Zoom session.

Registration for each session in the series is free for JJA members, $10 to the public.

Mateo won the 2019 Photo of the Year Award with her image of Roy Hargrove at the Umbria Jazz Festival, and has since then helped jury photo submissions for a nominated slate. A graduate of New York University Film School, she has been an active freelance photographer since 1989.

Her book AM Jazz – Three Generations Under the Lens includes a foreward by saxophonist Jimmy Heath. She conducts Photo Workshops and Webinars, among other private instructional services.
