2024 JJA Jazz Heroes: 33 stalwart supporters, all across North America

The Jazz Journalists Association proudly announces its slate of 2024 Jazz Heroes, people who go beyond their job titles to have have significant impact in their local communities by supporting jazz music, musicians and musical culture. Thirty-three “activists, advocates, altruists, aiders and abettors of jazz are hailed by supporters from their local communities, with JJA help nto disseminate news of the honors broadly. promote and support music now, from the borderland of Baja California, Mexico – San Diego to the Lowlands of South Carolina, rural Bozeman, Montana to travel-destination Hilton Head Island, Austin to Ottawa, Ontario, New York’s Caital Region to L.A., Akron, Atlanta, the Bay Area, Baltimore, Boston-Worcester, Brattleboro, Brooklyn, Charleston, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, D.C., Harlem, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Newark, Portland, Seattle. Tucson.

Jazz Hero awards are to be presented in live events, in conjunction with the JJA’s annual Jazz Awards honoring significant achievements in jazz music and journalism. Sponsors of the Jazz Heroes and other aspects of the 2024 JJA Jazz Awards include Berklee College of Music, Blue Note/Verve, the Jazz Foundation of America, and SFJazz.
