New JJA members and stalwart’s May updates

New members flocked to the JJA during the organization’s 28th annual Awards season.

Among them:

  • Steve Bowie, blogger, podcaster, saxophonist, of Pasadena;
  • Catalina Cavallo, a cultural journalist in Miami;
  • Con Chapman, author of  Rabbit’s Blues: The Life and Music of Johnny Hodges; Kansas City Jazz: A Little Evil Will Do You Good; and a forthcoming biography of Don Byas, based in Natwick, MA;
  • Steven Hauptman, photojournalist in Royal Oak, MI;
  • Photographer Katarzyna Idzkowska, of New York City;
  • David Keller, writer in Orange, CA;
  • Gloria Krolak, journalist and radio show host on Hilton Head Island, SC;
  • Deborah Ross, director of the Joyce and George Wein Foundation;
  • Paul Sheehy, an Associate member who’s a podiatric surgeon in Wesley Chapel, FL;
  • Shauna Stuart, who writes about jazz history especially in the southern U.S., from Birmingham, AL
  • Cat Wysong, broadcast host/producer and singer of Richmond, VA;
  • Leander Young, who interviews artists for Improv Exchange, out of Nassau County, NY.
