Jazz Hero Mitchell Zooms!

JJA Jazz Hero Billy Mitchell (Los Angeles), pianist-composer-arranger and activist guiding youth to music is being “presented” to friends and fans on Zoom, the interactive video platform, and on the JJA’s Facebook page on May 28, aat 5:30 Pacific Daylight Time, and you’re invited.

The event is free and open to the public. Advance registration, however, is required (see details below).

The presentation is being made in partnership with the California Jazz Foundation, which has bestowed its annual Nina Award on Mr. Mitchell, and he will be introduced CJF president and founder Edythe Bronston (who was named a JJA Jazz Hero in 2016). West Coast music journalist DeeDee McNeil, of LAJazzScene.buzz and MusicalMemoirs.wordpress.com will interview “Mitch” about his career and ongoing activities.
