Jazz journalism flows all summertime long, covering music heard live in fests, fairs, celebrations and clubs, on a flood of new recordings, on fave radio stations and movie soundtracks
(see below) and at tributes, like to dear departed Sheila Jordan — a longtime, dues-paying JJA associate member!
Some Big JJA news is that 58 members attended our first online Members Meeting, all participating in wide ranging yet productive discussion. A transcript is in preparation.
And then there’s Howard Mandel’s announcement he’s stepping down from JJA presidency at the end of 2025, after 32 years.
The JJA board is seeking candidates interested in the JJA’s leadership position — here’s a job description. Inquiries can be sent to President@jazzjournalists.org.
New members include Rebecca Klobucher, based in Chicago and assuming some JJA administrative duties; Belinda Foster of Wire News Central in Los Angeles; Joshua Myers, a piano trio enthusiast in Silver Spring, Maryland; photographer Adam Zarucki of Clifton, New Jersey, and Jackson Sinneberg, senior correspondent and editor-at-large of Capitol Bop as well as producer-editor for WAMU, out of Arlington, Virginia. Welcome, all!
