One unintended consequence of the 2020 JJA Jazz Awards: Photographer Steven Sussman has gone public with his images of jazz musicians in performance.
“Richard Conde recent informed me that I was nominated for the Lona Foote-Bob Parent Award for Career Excellence in Photography,” Sussman, a Hartford, CT-based radiologist, wrote to JJA President Howard Mandel. “I am very honored and grateful to be in such esteemed company.
“However, for about the past eight years I have had no website and therefore the link that is on the JJA website shows none of my work. All of this prompted me to create a new website which is a good starting point to see some of my portfolio. The website is SussmanPhotography.com. Would it be possible to update the members with this information so that voters can at least see my work?”
It would be and it is possible.
Voting for the 2020 Awards is complete: Conde was voted winner of the Lona Foote-Bob Parent Award for Career Excellence in Photography, the category in which Sussman was a nominee. But his photos — as well as those of honoree Conde and fellow nominees Peter Gannushkin and Robert Sutherland-Cohen are well worth a look. And consideration when it comes to voting next year.
