Photographers are encouraged to submit an image for the JJA’s 2020 Jazz Photo of the Year Award, as nominations for the organization’s 25 annual Jazz Awards commence. A slate of 2020 Jazz Heroes is being consolidated, subcommittees considering Best Books and Best Album Art of the Year 2019 have been formed, and a first-round nominations ballot will be sent to active (dues-paid) professional members shortly.
The 2020 Jazz Photo of the Year award honors images created in calendar year 2019 (nothing shot before Jan 1st or after Dec 31st 2019 please). Send ONE best shot as ONE jpeg no bigger than 1000 pixels on the long dimension to: Photos@jazzjournalists.org by SUNDAY MARCH 15. Please tell in your email: 1) WHO is in your photo 2) WHERE you took it 3) WHEN (the date, at least approximate) you took it. Remember, the photo must have been taken between Jan 1 and Dec 31, 2019.
