The Jazz Journalists Association was an active participant in the Jazz Connect Conference at APAP|NYC, January 9-10, 2014 at the Hilton New York Hotel in New York City 2014. The conference, a major gathering of the professional jazz community organized by JazzTimes in conjunction with the Jazz Forward Coalition, fed into the annual APAP (Association of Performing Arts Presenters) Conference as well as Winter Jazzfest.
The JJA produced a Thursday (Jan 9) morning panel — a video of which can now be viewed — and held a JJA general membership meeting on Thursday afternoon which was attended by approximately two dozen members and interested colleagues. On Friday afternoon, the JJA co-hosted a invitation-only reception with Jazz Connect and the New School Jazz Program at (le) Poisson Rouge, in advance of WinterJazz Fest #10.
Active JJA Members received a 25% discount on the $100 Jazz Connect conference registration fee. (This did NOT include admission to APAP sessions.)
The complete conference schedule can be found on the Jazz Connect site. Here are details of the JJA-produced activities:
