I was pleased to moderate an international panel of journalists on “From the Page to the Stage: Covering Jazz Across Borders” at Jazz-Con 2025, an innovative two-day online-only multi-event held in Sept. thanks to indefatigable producer Jerald Miller.

“What’s it like covering jazz around the world? Editors and publishers from leading jazz publications discuss their local scenes, editorial challenges and opportunities for artist to gain further coverage. They discuss the current role of media in documenting and supporting the music. A unique global check-in from those who write for the record.”

I can’t say we got to all that, but meet these jazz media activists: Zuhal Focan (Speaker) – Editor-in-Chief, Jazz Degrisi (Turkey)Frank Alkyer (Speaker) – Publisher, DownBeat (USA)Anne Yven (Speaker) – Editor, Citizen Jazz (Norway and France); Masayuki Koito (Speaker) – Editor, The Walkers (Japan)Jose Cabello Llano (Speaker) – Editor, In & Out Jazz (Spain); Mike Flynn  (Speaker) – Editor,Jazzwise Magazine (SpainUK).

And take a look at the other Jazz-Con 2025 sessions. Hail to the effort and accomplishment — high hopes for more such virtual get-togethers in the year to come.
