Robin Lloyd, Jazz and Blues program host at KPLU-FM (Seattle/Tacoma) and a member of the Jazz Education Network as well as of the Jazz Journalists Association, is joining the board of directors of the JJA.
Simultaneously and for unrelated reasons, Washington D.C.-based writer Mike West has asked to leave the board after completing a three year term. Mike says the arrival of his second child and his burgeoning freelance career as a jazz journalist are making new demands on his time. He will, however, continue to edit JJA members’ updates for monthly dissemination, and is also the JJA’s point-person in Washington DC for JazzApril 2015 activities, in the planning stages now.
Robin Lloyd has been a JJA activist in the Pacific Northwest and also online. She’s helped select and celebrate Jazz Heroes in Seattle, staying in close contact with other JJA members there, and is a dependable “liker” and “sharer” of JJA Facebook posts — an easy way to boost JJA profile, which all JJA are encouraged to do. Robin has also attended the JJA’s monthly Talking Jazz webinars, contributing comments and helping to guide discussion.
The JJA’s board comprises Carolyn McClair, Neil Tesser and Don Palmer, plus the association’s president Howard Mandel. New board members can be proposed by any sitting board member, for approval by the group.
