JazzTimes magazine and the Jazz Journalists Association have both scheduled mini-conferences for jazz industries professionals — musicians, presenters and media creators included — at or around the annual convention of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, January 5 through 8 in at the Hilton New York. Both the JazzTimes DIY one-day crash course, on Jan. 5, and the JJA’s five sessions spread from Jan. 6 – 8 are free and open to the public.

A Jazz Connect track is alo slated for the APAP conference, open only to APAP registrants.

In addition, the JJA is presenting a panel at the 34th annual Chamber Music America conference, January 14. Details of all JJA programs, including a cocktail party, will be posted when the online reservation pages are ready (there is no charge for participating, but reservations are requested). Times of JJA programs currently posted on the APAP “jazz events” page are incorrect and/or incomplete; please disregard them for now.

Furthermore: The 2012 New York City Winter Jazzfest is being held during the nights of January 6 and 7, in multiple venues in Greenwich Village. The National Endowment for the Arts will present the 2011 Jazz Masters at induction ceremonies/concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
